The MGEL is designed to provide maximum flexibility for working, professional engineers too. Students can begin in any semester and choose their own pace in the program, completing the degree in 12 - 28 months or longer if desired.

Enhance Your Technical Skills

A strong technical focus is delivered through the choice of a specialization track and a multi-term project to bring the technology and professional skills together. The technical tracks are built on the strengths of the College of Engineering at The Ohio State University.

Current
technical track specializations available in:

  • Automotive Systems Engineering
  • Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • Enterprise Services and Architectures
  • Radar Systems
  • Materials Joining
  • Materials Science (in development)
  • Or students can design a customized track

Grow As A Leader

The MGEL curriculum includes core leadership courses designed specifically for engineers to teach them real-world management skills and how to apply them within their industry. Previously, engineers who wanted this type of education had to pursue a graduate management degree separate from a traditional research master's degree. Now the MGEL makes this combination possible in a single degree through a partnership with The Fisher College of Business and the John Glenn College of Public Affairs.

The core courses include:

  • Financial and managerial accounting for engineers
  • Leadership and team effectiveness
  • Technology strategy and innovation management
  • Project management
  • Management in public agencies
  • The business-government relationship

What our students are saying:

"I knew that having a Master's degree would help me advance in my career, but I was not excited about the significant research associated with traditional engineering degrees. At the same time, a business degree seemed too far removed from my engineering interests. The MGEL program has proven to be the best of both worlds: A challenging study into advanced engineering applications, along with insightful instruction on essential business and leadership principles. The application requirements made the program very accessible, and the 100% online curriculum provides the flexibility I need as a working professional and part-time student. I immediately saw how the curriculum benefited my current job, and I am excited to see how the degree will advance my career."
